Where there you want to give your bedroom a bit of a vamp up but are short on cash or do not want to pore a lot of money into your children’s room when they will want to change it in another 10 years. We have some tips and tricks to show you how to make a stylish impact on a tight budget.

The bed tends to be in the centre of your room and this means you can really make a statement and set the theme for the room with it if you are starting fresh find a bedspread that you completely love and then work your room around this. The bedspread could be something you decide you would like to spend more money on if it is your statement piece and then go cheaper on the other style pieces. You can pick a nice statement colour out from your bedspread then you can match little trinkets that you have around the room with this. This will make your room look a lot more put together and purposely styled.

If you had your heart set on a feature wall or wallpaper but it is just out of your price range and a great alternative is wall decals. They are a lot more cost efficient and very trendy. Whether it is a soft floral wall decal in a master bedroom or bright rainbows in a kids bedroom a wall decal can really make a statement. If you do not have a lot of room on your walls you can go for something a little smaller this will still make a statement to your room and look like you’ve put more effort into the styling. If you have a full wall to fill go big! Nothing makes a room stand out then a beautiful big rainbow stretching out across the room. The great thing about our wall decals is everything is custom made. So you can pick the size, colour and even what pattern/shape you would like! We can make the wall decal fit perfectly to your room. When you are working with a tight budget the key is to spend a bit more money on a bigger object in the room that will stand out and then you can buy cheaper decorations that match the statement piece.

Nailing the retro styled room

The retro era came rushing into the 50s with splatters of mustard, citric lemon yellow and avocado green everywhere. Now guess what colours we are seeing come around again?

The retro style is a very fun and vibrant style filled with bold patterns and colours. After being on such opposite ends of the scale with the Minimalist trend, people are starting to tip to the other side of the scale. We are being less scared of brighter colours and patterns. The retro style allows you to really show off your individual style because there are no real limits. You can really use colours and prints to show your personality and present your home in a way that makes people go wow but also feels cosy and welcoming at the same time.

A way to slowly ease your house into this style is by keeping most of the colour and patterns plain and then adding a pop of retro style. The photo seen above is a great example. They have the crisp white cabinets with contrasting black. They decided to add bolder wallpaper to bring the retro style through without overpowering the room with lots of prints and colours. They also stuck with a bright mustard lemon yellow to bring the retro colour into the room and kept all the other colours neutral.

Wallpaper in pantries

An organised, stylish panty is a trend that has flourished through 2018  into  2019. A foodies dream pantry. Everything placed out in glass jars alined and labelled perfectly. Not only is this a stylish trend but environmentally friendly because you can reduce the use of plastic by using glass jars to store your food instead.

But who has the time for this? There is one quick way to make your party look styled and put together without having to put too much time and organising into it. Wallpaper! Wallpaper as a backdrop to your shelving can turn your pantry from zero to hero. It can also bring colour to your room and make the space look bigger.

I know what your thinking. There will be smudges and marks on that wallpaper in no time. But there is no need to worries as we can apply a waterproofing coat. This allows you to wipe down the wallpaper with a damp cloth without damaging the print. To make the job even easier, we can do custom wallpaper that will fit into each individual wall space.  This way it takes away all the stress of having to perfectly cut wallpaper up to fit the space and you would have to think about pattern match because we will do that all for you.

Gender neutral nursery inspiration

Gender neutral nurseries are becoming more and more popular as people are starting to sway away from the idea of “blue for boys” and “pink for girls” rule. Here are some tips and tricks that will help you to still make your show stopper without having bright colours.

Stick with shades of greys, black and whites. But you can also play will elements of soft browns and warm neutral colours. By keeping the colours plain it means you can play more with the patterns in the room. By picking a bolder pattern it will lift up the room. Our zig zag stripe pattern seen in these two photos is a great way of adding in a bold pattern. By having the lighter colour in the pattern it tones it down and balances it out so it is not overpowering the room. Also by choosing a more sophisticated neutral wallpaper, this means the room will mature and grow with your baby so it still fits when they are in their early teens. Now that’s thinking ahead!

Because you have a more basic colour palette this means you can add lots of texture throughout the furniture to create an interior design flair to the room. Combine a lot of different textures, like fury and soft with rough and leather textures. Mix it up you can’t go wrong with textures. Weave furniture is all the rage at the moment. Add a weave basket with a soft cotton throw rug. Having these opposer textures adds depths into the design of the room.
