What is BC Magic Wallpaper made from?

Our self-adhesive wallpaper is still a very new product to New Zealand. Therefore a lot of people do not understand our product properly. Here is a quick rundown explaining the three parts that make up this wallpaper. The material, the ink, and the self-adhesive.

The material comes in roles and is made from 100% polyester fabric. It is Class A1 fire rated in the US, non-toxic, green and phthalates free. We are proud to say our wallpaper is Environmentally safe and bio-degradable over time and not to mention reusable.

The material that makes the wallpaper starts off as a plain white colour. To get the ink onto the wallpaper we use both a HP latex printer and a Roland eco-solvent printer. The rolls of material are put in the machine and then we work through a computer program to tell the machine what pattern, width and height it needs to print. From there the machine prints the ink onto the material. This tends to take Aproxamitly 30 mins to print two panels. The ink sets used on both printers are GREENGUARD Gold certified for low VOC’s and indoor safety. They are completely non-toxic and safe to put up and have around children.

The self-adhesive backing is what differentiates our wallpaper to traditional wallpaper. This takes so much hassle out of installing the wallpaper. The self-adhesive is strong enough to stick to the wall but light enough to come off clean. Because our self-adhesive is clear it means that there are no marks left of the wall once removed.

BC Magic Wallpaper at The Crossing

You heard us right our wallpaper is now featured at The Crossing in Christchurch. It is located in the parent’s room. This is to the right of the service desk when you walk in from the car park.  

BEFORE: This was the wall before our wallpaper was up. This room is a stunning, well-designed room, however, by turning this blank wall into a colorful creative mural added a wow factor to the room.

Installation:  This wallpaper mural is our Wave Mural pattern. The wallpaper was customised to fit the height of  three meters tall and almost six meters wide. It took two hours to install as it was a larger wall and needed more precision as the panels were a lot longer and heavier than normal. We enlarged the pattern so that it would fit the height of the wall nicely. We also designed the wallpaper so it would start were the couch ended. This meant that the mural would not be cut off or look out of place.

AFTER: We think the end result looks wonderful and fits perfectly into the atmosphere of the parent’s room. We made sure that the colors within the wallpaper were found in the room. This meant that the wallpaper added the room but did not overpower it. Our wallpaper is great for children’s rooms as you can remove the wallpaper and reuse it in a different space. Not to mention you can get very creative with the wallpaper as it is not permanent.

The impact of reversing the background and print colours in a pattern

Most of our patterns have a white background. However, reversing the colors can have a massive impact on the look of the wallpaper. It tends to make the wallpaper bolder and lets the detailing in the pattern stand out more.

Take for example our Safari pattern above. You can see the detailing within the pattern much more when the Neutral 1 is the background. This pattern is mainly used for nurseries so it is a great option to use a color as the background and white to complement it. By having a color instead of a shade as the main element it means fewer marks that would have to clean off to keep the white pristine.

The zig zag stripe pattern in light grey as see above is one of our most popular patterns. People tend to use white as the dominant hue because it’s a safe option and something that is easy to blend in with their colour scheme. However, making a color more dominant over a shade would only enhance it and add substance to the room. Creative ways to style an everyday object using BC Magic Wallpaper

BC Magic Wallpaper can decorate more than just walls. It costs no extra to custom make our wallpaper and it is self-adhesive, meaning it will cause no damage when removed. So, why not get creative? Here are some examples of creative ways to style up an object using BC Magic Wallpaper.

This customer wanted to use our wallpaper on their fridge. We added a waterproofing coat onto the wallpaper as it was going to be touched often by grubby hands and it was near water. This gave the ink protection and allowed her to wipe the paper down with a damp cloth. This is a great way to make your kitchen look a lot more stylish, unique and it adds character to a kitchen without having to spend mega bucks on it.

Thinking of jazzing up a piece of future? Our wallpaper made a great background to this piece of furniture. It is a very inexpensive way to add detailing to the object. We do not recommend that our wallpaper is used for surface areas as it will wear down the wallpaper print. This is why all the wallpaper is placed on the vertical not the horizontal.

Before you buy the wallpaper to cover your surface that is not a wall, we highly recommend having a chat with the BC Magic Wallpaper team first. If you tell us the material of the surface you are covering we can advise you on if it will work and if you need block out wallpaper or a waterproofing coat. Before buying the product we recommend purchasing a sample and making sure it sticks on the object for over 48 hours.

Custom fitting your wallpaper around your windows and door for no extra cost.

With any custom orders along with matching the exact height and width, we will also fit the wallpaper around the windows and doors or other larger objects within the wall.

How it is done? First, you measure the height and width of the wall in total,  then the widths on each side of the object and the height above and below the object. We send you a measuring guide to help you along with this process. This then allows us to map out how to fit the panels  within these spaces.

By taking the time to carefully measure your doors, windows and wall will save you money. We cost our wallpaper per square meterage. By taking away an area that does not need wallpapering, it cut the cost down.

It also drastically cut down the time it takes to put up the wallpaper. You no longer have to deal with fiddly cutting that takes time and a precise hand. This makes installation a breeze as our wallpaper becomes, even more, DIY friendly. The customer no longer has to be worried about cutting the wallpaper too short or crooked. This allows you to get a clean, professional finish.
