Scott Kennedy Wallpaper

Scott Kennedy Wallpaper

A few months ago BC Magic Wallpaper had the pleasure of making a wallpaper for the Three Eyes Gallery. This wallpaper was a tribute to the Artist Scott Kennedy who passed away from Cancer in 2013. We felt very honoured to be a part of such a beautiful tribute to the New Zealand artist. The wallpaper was a collection of artwork that Scott Kennedy had done throughout the year brought together into a big college.

He did illustrations for many different books and was an accomplished sculptor and painter. You might recognize his work if you have been to Wellington Airport. His illustrations are on the walls of the airport, welcomed and farewelled passengers. He was a talented man that left a great mark on New Zealand’s evolving art culture. We are proud to show you the end result of the wallpaper. If you have a custom design you would like made, please send us an email. We are more than happy to print your own personal designs.

Wouldn’t you love our Zig Zag Stripe wallpaper in your house?

Wouldn’t you love our Zig Zag Stripe wallpaper in your house?

Our Zig Zag Stripe wallpaper flys off the shelves. People go crazy for this pattern. But why? For its versatility, and minimalist style.

The minimalist style was invented in the early 1970s but was not truly embraced as such a popular style until the 20th century. Today patterns as simply as the Zig Zag Stripe fit perfectly into the trendy minimalist style that you see everywhere in magazines. Our Zig Zag Stripe wallpaper adds pattern to a room without overpowering it.

Zig Zag Stripe is a very versatile pattern. Say you are decorating a study that, in a few years time will become baby’s room. This pattern transitions well from a sophisticated study to a fun baby’s room. All you need to do is add elements into the room to dress the wallpaper one way or the other. This Minimalistic pattern can be dressed to fit any room. It can work in small spaces also as it will not overcrowd the area. If you would like to see this pattern in a different colour or would like a quote please send us a message. We are more than happy to accommodate.

A quick history on the timeless check pattern

A quick history on the timeless check pattern.

We have two new wallpaper patterns out. One is called Buffalo check in grey and the other is a slightly smaller print called check pattern in peach. The check pattern is a timeless look that everyone can recognize. It is everywhere. On clothing, furniture, even tea towels. This pattern has been around for century yet never goes out of fashion. But why is this and what is the history behind check?

The plaid pattern was around in the 1500s when the Scottish used kilt colours to define what clan or geographical region they were from.  The checker pattern was later appropriated by British and American manufacturers, who created a patterned fabric which resembled tartan in the Woolrich Woolen Mills that still stands to this day. The name Buffalo check came from the owners of the mill. The mill began producing the buffalo check clothing in the 1850s.

The pattern originally became associated with lumberjacks.  After several decades of developing this pattern turned into one of the western worlds biggest mainstream patterns. It was not until the 1970s when check became popular within interior design elements. From there the pattern blossomed. We doubt this trend will ever go out of style.
