What is the difference between our wallpaper and others?

What is the difference between our wallpaper and others?

The biggest difference between traditional wallpaper and BC Magic Wallpaper is that our wallpaper has a self-adhesive backing. With traditional wallpaper, you need to apply a paste between the wall and wallpaper, which is a hard process that you normally need a tradesperson for. Once applied, traditional wallpaper is permanent. It is a long and hard process to get traditional wallpaper off the walls and you have to repaint the surface. BC Magic wallpaper comes off the second you pull it away and leaves the wall clean and in tack.

Unlike most other wallpaper companies you can bring your own design/photo to us and we will print it. Or if you like a pattern but do not see it on our website then we can create it for you. Unlike other companies, we will charge no extra for custom designs and we are more than happy to send many of many emails to make sure everything is perfect for you.

Another big difference with our wallpaper compared to traditional wallpapers is that we do not make the wallpaper in rolls but panels. Why is this? We like to make our wallpaper as DIY friendly as possible. Having the wallpaper in smaller panels makes it a lot more manageable for people to handle. A job is never too big if you split it up into smaller jobs.

Animal themed nursery

Animal themed nursery

We have many different animals themed wallpaper that people go crazy for. When you have a baby or young children this is the age where you can pick more adventures patterns for them that spark creativity and imagination. Check out some of our animal wallpapers below for some inspiration.

The Dinasor allows your child to look up and let their imagination go wild. Our wallpaper is not permanent either meaning when they start to grow up in 10 to 15 years and want a mature room you can pull it off the walls instantly. It’s no hassle at all and takes less than ten minutes. So why not go bolder and adventurous while they are at the age where you can.

The Safari pattern is one of our most popular animal patterns. It is a fun way to teach your child animal sounds and noises. Grey is the most popular pattern as it is gender neutral and works well with any colour you put with it. We can also do custom designs. If you see an animal print that you like on the Shutterstock website you can send it through to us and we can change the colours, take away or add things to the pattern. We can make it perfect for what you envisioned for your child’s room.

Why go for a coloured wallpaper over a neutral?

Why go for a coloured wallpaper over a neutral?

Our most popular shades are grey. But why? New Zealanders seem to find colour risky. We are too scared it could go wrong or out of date. But colour done right can turn a room from a 5 to a 10. Colour is easy to work with as long as you follow these steps.

Pick a colour scheme before you start. If you have a plan with your room the end result will have a flow to it and look well put together. You can choose to keep the room in the same tones or you can choose to add elements of contrasting hues. Try not to over do the contraction colours as this could  make your room clash.

If you are putting the wallpaper into a room that has already been set up, you can pick a colour that is already in the room. At BC magic Wallpaper we can colour match our patterns. If you could pick an object in the room and use that to colour coordinate in the wallpaper it will bring the room together very nicely. Next time your are choosing an object for your room think what will wow, rather then what will blend into the background.

How to Pattern Match

How to Pattern Match.

Our wallpapers are supplied in panels instead of roles. Most of our panels come at a 28-inch width but can vary. This is because with a shorter width the panels can be put up without a struggle. This does mean the join lines will most likely have overlap.  We can make the wallpaper panels a lot wider however this becomes a lot hard to put up.

As we encourage customers to DIY our wallpaper we want to give you a crash course on how to turn an overlapping look into a butting look. An overlap is when the one panel needs to sit on top of the other by a few cms to match the pattern. This is a very common look and most people do not mind having an overlap.  However, if you would rather the panels touch together rather then overlap the photo below shows you how to change this. All you need it a ruler and a sharp craft knife. If it is already on the walls we recommend getting a piece of thin PVC underneath where you are cutting so you do not leave a mark on the walls. We tend to use a thin ruler underneath. Of course, we are only a phone call or email away and are more than happy to help with any questions.  We also offer installations in Christchurch for an extra cost.
